The freedom of being able to drive is something that many teenagers look forward to. However, having a disability can complicate the process of getting a driving licence. YES is trying to break down the barriers and enable more young people with disabilities the opportunity to learn how to drive.
The YES Mobility Driving Programme helps individuals with disabilities learn both the theory and practical skills of driving. Thus giving individuals the opportunity to live their lives more independently and enabling them to achieve things they otherwise may have struggled with or not been able to do at all without the ability to drive.
We are currently looking for 5 people who are 16 and over who are wanting to get their learner driver’s licence. There will be a two day workshop at the Yes Disability Resource Centre. The workshop involves learning the road code in an interactive way that is easy to learn and remember! At the end of the second day participants will be able to go down to the local AA Centre and sit their learner licence test.
Anyone interested in being a part of this workshop can contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
