FREE Holiday Program for Children with DisabilitiesAnyone who has children knows that school holidays can be a real challenge to keep kids entertained. For parents with children with disabilities, there is an even greater challenge as so many of the regular holiday activity programmes are designed for able bodied kids. Yes Disability Resource Centre and the Wilson Centre have recognised a need to fill this gap. It is therefore our pleasure to host ‘ArtOut’, a holiday programme specially designed for these children. Creative activities like painting can be very messy for children with poor co-ordination and for this reason many families do not include art activities at home. During ArtOut a large range of art and craft materials are provided and children have a choice of mediums with which to express themselves and which are most suitable for their ability. Children with low muscle tone and limited co-ordination particularly enjoy the finger painting and working with clay. One of the best things about artout is that there is no cost to attend and siblings as well as parents and carers are all welcome to join in. The art and craft materials are provided by several very supportive local businesses. We hope to see you there!! |
